Frequently asked questions
How much does solar installation cost in Cape Town?
Pricing depends on your usage and roof. Starter systems start from R94,090, or with finance from ≈R1,701/month. We'll tailor a quote for you after a quick assessment.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are installed within 7 working days after receipt of deposit and site readiness. We make sure your equipment is delivered within 48 hours for added peace of mind. Installations for average homes are completed typically within 2 full working days.
Do you handle SSEG registration and compliance?
Yes. We manage SSEG applications, registration and commissioning and issue a Certificate of Compliance on completion.
What size solar system do I need for my home?
Most homes in Cape Town require a 5kW to 8kW inverter with battery storage between 5kWh and 20kWh depending on electricity usage. DigiGo Solar provides structured packages designed around typical residential consumption levels to ensure reliable backup and long-term savings.
Will a solar system power my home during load shedding?
Yes. When paired with a correctly sized battery, your solar system will power essential circuits during load shedding. The duration of backup power depends on battery capacity and household usage.
Are you an approved solar company?
Yes. We enlist qualified electricians to do our installations. We also work with a Professional Electrical Engineer who designs, inspects and signs off on the installation for safety and compliance with the registering authorities. Our clients are issued with a Certificate of Compliance after the installation is completed.
Do you offer warranties?
Yes. Inverters and battery combinations that we install come with a 10-year manufacturer warranty which clients register for. Solar panels have 12 to 25 year warranties. We work with great suppliers who also provide fantastic after-sales support. Our workmanship also carries a warranty.
Can I finance the system?
Yes, via FNB and WesBank. Terms from 48–72 months, subject to approval. You apply for the finance directly with the bank, using our quote. See Solar Finance for how it works.
How long does it take to recover the cost of a solar system?
Most residential solar systems in Cape Town achieve return on investment within 4 to 6 years depending on electricity usage, tariff increases and system size.
Do I own my solar system if I choose financing?
Yes. DigiGo Solar offers financing options where you own your system from day one. We do not offer rental or rent-to-own systems. See Solar Finance for full details.
